168 women were among more than one thousand civilian pilots to deliver over 300,000 aircraft from factory to airfield during World War Two, flying everything from Tiger Moths for training to heavy bombers. They also supported the RAF and Fleet Air Arm by ferrying aircraft between maintenance units and operational bases. Training was done at Haddenham. Speaker John Webster is from the Maidenhead Heritage Centre, where a permanent exhibition tells the forgotten story of courage, skill and sacrifice and an archive provides a lasting memorial to these little-known men and women.
